UnPlugging: Jonny Two Bags

Jonny Two Bags

Jonny Two Bags: Social Distortion’s guitarist since 2000, previously played in U.S. Bombs and Youth Brigade. The real question should be: ‘Why don’t you know him yet?’ Maybe it’s because he’s always been in a band, never solo. Wait, that’s not right either; he once played one song called Pills & Smoke on a 2010 Swingin’ Utters tribute album, but… that was a cover.

Jonny ‘Two Bags’ Wickersham co-wrote a few Social D songs along with Mike Ness, and that might have gotten him started thinking of going solo. In 2012 he announced to release a 7-inch single, followed by a debut album.
His first single was indeed released on 4 December, featuring two songs called ‘Hope Dies Hard‘ and ‘How Many Hearts (Will You Destroy Today?)‘.

His forthcoming album Salvation Town is yet to come out, more details are not out yet. Jonny has formed a backing band for live performance, now called after the initial album title. Wickersham has already played supporting Frank Turner and played with the likes of Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds) and Steve Soto (Adolescents). He will be coming to Europe the first time solo supporting The Loved Ones’ frontman Dave Hause. Next to several club shows, he will also be playing the Groezrock Acoustic Stage, sharing stage with Russ Rankin (Good Riddance), Vinnnie Caruana (I Am The Avalanche), Geoff Rickly (Thursday) and may more.
